The Chicks

Yesterday was a busy day, but we had to get something Eastery in.  So, we went to a local farm store to look at the chicks and bunnies.  Aiden loved it and, although there have been times that I have thought I might enjoy the farm life, I was glad not to have that smell in my backyard.

Easter Activities

Last year we did 12 days of Easter.  This year, coming off our vacation, 12 days wouldn't have worked.  So, we decided to do a week of Easter activities.

On Sunday, we made Spring cupcakes.  We colored the batter into spring colors, but Aiden doesn't really like cupcakes with frosting, so he at them "naked".

Monday night, we played baseball with his brand new ball and bat out in the spring sunshine and we planted some flowers in anticipation for our garden later this year.

He seems very serious, but he was giddy playing in the dirt.  We planted daisies and mini cucumbers.  He was so proud.

We have so many fun things planned this year.  All in celebration of the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Day 4 and Home from San Diego

We were so lucky to be able to go to Safari Park in San Diego.  It is run by the same people who do the zoo, but - in my humble opinion- I loved it more than the zoo.  It was just beautiful.

First off, I have to say that we were all walked out by the time we got to Safari Park.  3 days of walking already had taken its toll on all of us.  But it was a beautiful, chilly day and safari park was amazing. 

This cheetah was so close to us.  It was amazing.  Like at the zoo, they try not to enclose the animals too much.  This photo was taken without zoom.  That's how close we were.

We signed up for a safari tour.  We hopped on a small golf cart thing with 7 or 8 other people and headed out to see animals close up.

The tour guide was amazing and she took us through African safari territory and all the way through Asia territory.  There are just wide open hills for the animals to run around.  They thrive here so much more than in zoos and we learned the Safari Park is one of the premier places for these exotic and endangered animals to run free and they breed so much better in the wild landscape.

Aiden was telling me what the lion says.

For our last San Diego hoorah, we rode the carousel.  Aiden rode the elephant and he is trying to make the sound of an elephant, but it sounds more like a dying cow.  Precious.

Then we drove and drove and drove and drove so more - ending up in St. George.  We basically checked in, dumped our bags and crashed.  We blacked out the lights and Mister slept until 8:30.  It's a miracle!!!

Before we headed to Salt Lake, we decided to go to the temple grounds for just a minute in St. George.  It was a beautiful day and an even more beautiful temple.

We loved our trip and it was the perfect time to spend with some of my favorite people.
