"Our county fair is a great county fair! Don't miss it! Don't even be late!"
We were never really fair-goers when I was a child. We did a lot of really fun "fair" things like canning and gardening, but never actually went to the fair. Lately, though, I have really become interested in the local fare and local life. I could be a farmer's wife. Or a rancher's wife. I could help him plow, harvest, or whatever. I may not be good at it, but the older I get, the more I think I would really enjoy it.
If only some poor farmer would have me. I can cook... I can clean... hint.... hint...
I really want Aiden to learn about the local life that support him and surround him. I want him to participate in the local goings on - to realize that he may be one of many, but in the local scene, the one really matters.
So we went to the fair today. Davis County does not put on the greatest fair, but the general idea is there. Petting zoo, check. Bunny Barn, check. Funnel Cake, check. Tiger cubs, check... wait, what? Yeah, they had tiger cubs. And they were CUTE. Too bad my camera battery gave out.
Aiden has been really feverish the last couple of days. Yesterday was the worst and so we couldn't go to the fair. Apple juice, Motrin, a big "LET'S GO!" and we were off!
Even sick, Aiden squealed and started jabbering the second he saw the animals at the petting zoo.
Aren't these overalls so stinking cute?!?!
My little Farmer Joe.
He is trying to make the sound of a goat. I am not really sure what the two fingers have to do with it...
We did ride the little ponies. I can't take pictures of him on the pony because I can't hold on to him and take a picture. My arms need to be about 2 feet longer...
Seeing the bunnies and chickens.
He thought the turkey was HILARIOUS. It was so loud.
What is a county fair without funnel cake? (Tell you a secret, it was pretty gross... but it looks yumm-o)
Two hours into the fair, the fever reared his ugly, hot head. So we headed home.
We really did have a great time. He loved the animals. I loved the free fun! We both loved spending time as a little family.
Caffeine update: Caffeine? What caffeine? I feel better now than I have in 2 decades. JOY!!! I did start drinking Fresca once in a while, but I still am sticking with water. YAY. I think I am cured of my addiction.
