Dear Dr. M.
Thank you for understanding that finding a closer pediatrician than the University of Utah is not cheating on you if we only use her for emergencies - like today. Thank you for loving my son enough to really be concerned tonight how he is feeling and calling just to chat with him. Thank you for giving me your cell phone and home phone numbers so I can call you directly because you know my son better than anyone else in your clinic.
Thank you for calling the "spare" pediatrician to report to her my son's medical history, which is long and involved. Thank you for crying and saying he is your little "albino muffin" and for the "spare" pediatrician to take "super-great" care of him or she will have your wrath. And I believe you.
Thank you for saving my son - more than once - and sitting with him through his surgery in April so someone who loved him would be there. You are my hero, Dr. M. We will see you in a few weeks.
Love,
Aiden's Mommy
Dear Dr. G.
Thank you for graciously accepting the title of "Spare Pediatrician". Thank you for listening, really listening to Dr. M about my son and understanding his health history. Thank you for really listening to me.
Thank you for knowing the difference between Thomas the Tank Engine and James the Tank Engine. I did notice. And I think Aiden did, too. Thank you for being so cute and gentle with my sick son. Thank you for finding your Thomas DVD so my son would not cry during your exam. You are so understanding of a toddler's priorities.
Thank you for not prescribing antibiotics that Aiden doesn't need. That means you are really, really good at what you do. Thank you for calling tonight to see how he is feeling.
Dr. M is the perfect pediatrician, but if we ever decide to cheat on her, you will be the first to know.
Love,
Aiden's Mommy
